Hi. My cat brought in a finch 3 days ago. One of the wings has an open wound medially, near the body. The wing was hanging, but seems to be in a little more now. I've put the finch in a bird cage with food and water. She seems to be doing well otherwise. Eating/drinking/hopping around and onto the perch.
Does anyone know if the wing can heal itself and maybe he/she can fly again? It doesn't look infected. He/She is very frightened of me, so I can't doctor it.
Thank you very much for any guidance.

:welcome Depending on the degree of damage, the bird may very well heal and be able to fly again. As long as it is eating and drinking, there is hope.

It’ll be a shorter healing time if there’s not a hole clear through the wing. I do suggest making certain it can fly well before you release it. Good wishes!
