We live on a small private lake and I am finding eggs every morning in the water! Due to alot of critters around the area the ducks and geese are not nesting on shore? Can I take these eggs in and incubate them and how long can they be in the water before they wont be any good? Please give me any advice you can as soon as you can because Im ready to go get them out of the water* :)

We also live on the lake and I also find eggs in the water, and in the reeds close to shore. I check each day so usually they aren't in for more than a few hours. The water is cold even though i'm in florida. I take them in, i put them small part down on the counter and let them rest for a few hours then put them in the incubator. Many of them never form..however i've gotten two to hatch that i found in the water, and i have 2 more that are forming. its worth a try, you never know..i'd say you should get at least some of them to hatch. i have 2 runners from mine..

This is WONDERFUL to know. I find more in the water than on land because my ducks may lay them on the shore but they roll into the water. I check several times a day so from now on I am rescuing!

The two tan runners are from two eggs i found in the lake, they're 6 days old here..so i found the eggs at the end of february/ beginning of march..still pretty chilly..and they hatched just perfectly..my little miracle duckies:)
