Fire Ants in Coup

Is there anything that can be done to get rid of fire ants in the chickens yard or coup without killing the chickens?

You could add some DE (Diatomatious Earth- the food grade kind)os to the litter. It cuts open the exoskeleton of insects and they dry out. Its safe for the chickens to eat and dust bathe in. Also, be sure not to leave any spilled feed on the ground as that's probably what attracted them in the first place. Either take up the feeder so the birds have to clean up their mess, or put something under it to catch what's being billed out (if that's what's going on). Good luck!

I spray them with Home Defense. It's supposed to be animal safe when it dries.
