We got home from the co-op today, buying electric fencing for our farm... and while I was checking my email in the family room I heard some very strange noises coming from our fireplace, and so I went to inspect... and realized there was DEFINITELY something stuck in the flu, so after we got the puppies out, I had my mum open the flu to see what it was, turns out it was a bird, we're not sure what it was... mum thought it was a Starling or something, anyway it seems like he had fallen down the chimney and into the closed flu, good for him really because if he had fallen all the way through, he'd surely have died in their since we still have the fireplace rack sitting in the box. Anyway, we opened the screen to pull him out and set him free/asess any broken limbs etc, and he FLEW OUT AND INTO THE HOUSE, so here is the five or ten minutes with a wild bird flying around our house and into various windows, walls, and doors. Finally we caught him when he decided to land on the window sill, and here is a photo of our fireplace flu victim, his tail feathers were rather ruffled, and perhaps a few broken but when we took him outside he flew away with no issues.

I've named the fireplace flu bird, Henry.

What a cool story! When I read the title, I immediately thought you had a chimney swift, but that's no swift! He's a lucky bird that you saved him:eek:)
