My favorite little frizzle hen has been sitting on eggs for 5 days now. I went out this evening and moved her to a private dog kennel with her eggs so she could be safer and have more privacy. I managed to move her safely and she has settled back onto her eggs. She did give me quite a good peck when I tried to pick her up. I am very excited about having little frizzes. She only has 2 eggs but she is very persistent about sitting on them. I want to let her handle all the duties of hatching, etc herself. Is there anything major I should know about this process? This is my first time. The father is a frizzle also and I have read good and bad things about the double frizzle thing.

Congratulations! We pretty much let the broody hens alone, except we candled the eggs at least once because if they aren't fertile, they can break. That smell is not pretty.

Also, you should be forewarned that when the mama hen sees all these freaky frizzes under her she will panic and possibly pass out before realizing that those peeps look just like their equally normal dad.

awwww I bet they will be cute! I also hear that if you breen two frizzles together that their feathers become brittle and will break off. but they're probably gonna be fine!

I read that too but I hope everything will be okay. This is my first experience with frizzles and I LOVE them so much.

A well known frizzle Polish breeder told me that she has never seen a extreme frizzle, aka brittle feather, until she bred at least 3 generations of frizzles together....
