Hard to give advice with so little information.
There are several caponizing threads...one in particular that's been active, but I can't find it.

I think the best advice I saw on this, is when you butcher a couple of roosters, after they are dead, but before you do anything else, try it then. It will give you some practice, some experience with the set up.
