First chick hatched

help ! I'm out of state and can't help my husband . Our first egg hatched and I still have so many questions. Do I need to separate it from the flock ? He can't get to the feed store to get chick started until tomorrow Am, so what should we do for food ? What about the other eggs that are still sitting in the nesting box ?

Chicks can go a couple of days without eating once they hatch. It will be fine until the morning. I'd leave the eggs in the box for a couple more days. Some people separate chicks, some people don't. I usually move the mama and her chicks to a separate area once all the eggs have hatched. Your new little chick will stay under her without food just fine while the others hatch.

Thank you ! I was hoping to have more time to educate myself before they hatched .
