Just had to share! Mine are Mallards, and I found two this morning! Now to find out if both the hens are laying or if that was a two-day-in-a-row thing.

Congrats!

Speaking of which, they don't have nest boxes yet. If I built two, would each hen use one? (I only have 2 hens and 1drake).

You would only need one nest box. The only time mine have used one is if they go broody and even then usually find the thorniest bush on the property to brood under. The rest of the ducks just lay an egg wherever they happen to be when the urge strikes.

Most ducks lay at night or very early morning. If you keep them in their house until you know they are done, you won't have to hunt for the eggs.
If I didn't do that our dogs would find them before we do and eat them

One of my (now mature) ducklings from this year laid her first egg this morning too

It is exciting, isn't it? I found two eggs in the coop a couple of days ago and one each day since. They are quite small, but the duck isn't that big herself. This is one of the two ducks that I brought home from a grossly inadequate situation. They are now, after only a couple of weeks, beginning to eat more of the good feed. They must have grown up only dabbling in mud. This evening I added a small cardboard box with straw and wood shavings to see if she will use it.

JoyAnna, that is great news hearing that your ducks are eating feed and laying eggs too! You've worked wonders with them in such a short time

I got my second egg today from my new layer

That's two mornings running; both are smaller than usual though, but I'm not phased by that.
