First egg from one of my "babies"

Yesterday was so exciting!!!! On of my babies that we got from Meyer Hatchery at the beginning of August laid her first egg! She is 24 weeks! I have one other layer but we didn't get her as a chick and she was already laying when we got her. Somehow this is more exciting since we raised Luna from chickhood!

Here she is a few weeks ago- she's a Golden Sex Link.



And here's her first egg. It was a really good size. Today's was a little smaller

Yay! How fun! I guess they do start even though it's cold out! I was wondering!

Yup!!! Her comb has been bright red for a few weeks and then about a week ago she started crouching whenever I would try to touch her. So I knew it would be soon. She didn't use the nest box yesterday but did today!

Now I'm waiting for my Barred Rock - whose comb is BRIGHT!!!!
