Chirping
Hi, so today I went outside to lock up the chickens and also check on the nesting box curtain I just put up this morning, both of my hens are already up inside the coop which was normal and I also picked up my roo up to go inside the coop so I can lock the doors. All of that were very normal until I went to check on the curtains which were on the floor this was not very normal because when I introduce them to my hens, they were very afraid of them. First surprise, I went to open the nest box to find an egg laying in there, it wasn't a normal egg it was not the normal white/brown/blue/green, it was a very dull color of grey and the shell was very soft, it also had been open and the yolk was showing. I went to show my family the egg, hey were all very excited. Second surprise, we stood there to examine the egg, with the coop's door closed, we didn't want the chickens to go outside since it is nearly bedtime. I opened the door and saw a tiny little egg on the floor, I didn't know if I missed it while I was checking on them or they were just laid there after we closed to coop door, the egg was the size of a US quarter, the shell was also very soft, I had to use two leaves to scoop it up. We went to open the first egg up, the yolk was very thick. I had no idea which hen laid the eggs but they were her first egg ever, we weren't expecting eggs because again the chickens are still young ( about 12 weeks old) I don't know what to do!!!
