CONGRATS - I'm so excited for you!!! Mine turn 20 weeks tomorrow and I can't wait....

My husband laughs at me, I have about 20 egg cartons saved for 4 hens....he says "girls need to get busy!!"

Ya, we have a TON of egg cartons. Probably enough for 2 chickens for a year!

I'm so excited, I got my first egg last night too )) My girls are exactly 22 weeks to the day. This maybe a dumb question, but... how do you know which one laid it? I have 5 hens right now, all brown egg layers. Two of them (barred rocks) have been squatting for a week or two. I work from 8am-6pm, so I see them briefly in the morning and then again later in the evening. I'm assuming there's no real way to tell outside of sitting by the coop???

My chicken was the only one squatting and she also checked out the nesting boxes a few times before she laid.

Another one of my chickens is laying! She is a Silver Laced Wyanddote and is big. The funny thing is that she wouldn't squat in front of me. What is with that? Oh well I am just glad that she is laying.

Another one of my chickens started laying today, and the funny thing is the egg is not small, I was surprised that it is actually medium sized. Layed by a Red Star.
