i have 6 hens all around 17 weeks. Got my first egg today (super excited!!) should I go ahead and switch them all to layer feed and get oyster shells? Or wait to see if I get more eggs. Sorry, this is my first time raising chickens.

Congrats on your first egg. For sure get oyster shell out asap. Probably won't hurt to switch to layer now too. Maybe take a good look at all their combs, if some aren't getting red, you could got to all flock, with the oystershell free choice.

Getting pretty red. So better to be safe than sorry.
