Don't think so but I've noticed my cockerel will sometimes join in with the egg song. Pretty funny. Will a cockerels crow change after the pullets start laying? I ve noticed some differences in his crow today.
I can't really explain the difference but it is different today.Don't think so but I've noticed my cockerel will sometimes join in with the egg song. Pretty funny.
No. They lay approximately every 13-14 hrs of daylight. They'll lay later and later every day, skip a day or 2, then restart in the morning. Especially when the young ones start laying, it can be sporadic. One more question. If a pullet starts out laying in the evening, will she continue to lay in the evenings?
Thank you. I'm wondering if the bigger egg belongs to the one that layed yesterday.No. They lay approximately every 13-14 hrs of daylight. They'll lay later and later every day, skip a day or 2, then restart in the morning. Especially when the young ones start laying, it can be sporadic.
I'm fairly certain that two of the wynadottes are the responsible parties. There are 3 or 4 other pullets that are pretty close also. You can try this method to see who's laying eggs: https://www.backyardchickens.com/articles/who-is-laying-and-who-is-not-butt-check.73309/
Or you can do what I do and just spy on them a lot until I catch them in the act.
