FIRST Egg!

I found my first egg today! I was so excited!

It was next to the nest box so at least they have a general idea. I have two bantams 20 weeks old "barred cochin & gold laced cochin". Not sure who I should give the credit too?? But, I really felt like having a chicken party!

I didn't know it would be so exciting to actually find an egg....guess you can tell I'm a new chicken owner!

I was so excited - I forgot to post the picture! Of course, my proud little egg is on the right...compared to a store large egg.

My 10 yr old was all

going MOM MOM I GOT AN EGG at the top of his lungs yesterday!!! Of course, he went out today and No Egg

poor kid.. I told him maybe tomorrow... we have mostly young pullets so I think it might have been the old hen... Who knows... he was just happy!!!

YAY! when I got my first egg I was 5 hours from home with no cell service. I drove everyday to call my sister to see if she laid yet. The last day of vacation she laid an egg. You would have thought I won the lottery when she told me!
