Hello

I went to the coop to feed my chickens breakfast. But I saw something in the run - small, round, light-brown object. What is it? An egg, of course! She finally laid her first egg! I'm so happy that I ran to the house and told everyone about the egg! Laura the pullet laid the egg in the pen(she's a New Hampshire Red) but not on the nestbox(I wonder why). But my grandma told me not to take the egg or she will find another place to lay it, but I'm afraid that the egg might be eaten or stepped on by the chickens or it might spoil. Should I leave the egg alone, or take it and eat it? Also I'm wondering if it's fertilized(she's 9-months old and she's being forcefully mated by my granma's older free-range chickens

). I heard that you have to open it and look for the whitish spot, but I'm thinking of treasuring it for a while.

Here's my first egg:

Thank you everyone for helping me care for my chickens!
