SO excited -- BEST Christmas present ever! On Dec 23, very unexpectedly found first egg. 5 hens, all 23 weeks, different breeds. I suspected it was the red sex link and confirmed this a.m. She had just laid and was still in the nest box when we opened it this morning. Still warm and glowing. So, an egg each day from her since 23rd. Odd because none of the girls are squatting and this a.m. never heard a peep--no egg song. Also, first egg and all since are absolutely perfect. They are still on grower feed and only put out oyster shell after we found the first egg. Strong shells, very large and perfectly shaped. I blew out the first one to save it for display (it's on a tiny little pedestal, LOL!) And I ate it--delish! Hope the others will start up soon! It's been very rainy and cold, dark and miserable so surprised all the way around! (no artificial light)

Congratulations on the first eggs!
