Yay! The first egg day is THE BEST! I marked 20 weeks in my calendar for last year's pullets so I could be on the lookout haha. I took them until week 24 to start laying. BIG CONGRATS and enjoy
My leghorns got to week 19 and then made eggs...I've been n the lookout since week 16. So far they only lay in their coop, in a specific nesting box, but I'm waiting to find a stinky egg in the Texas heat, as they free range aout 6 hours per day, starting around noon (they usually lay in the morning in the coop). Well yesterday there weren't any eggs at noon, or any eggs I could find in the yard. At 7pm, ta-da they were back in the coop and someone laid an egg.
