I have 2 red sex links and 4 amberlinks which are white. They are all around nineteen weeks old. Found 7 eggs on day one, four the next, and 6 eggs today. They were all different sizes and colors. The thing that got me was about half the eggs had two yokes in them. What causes that and is it normal?

Sorry, I don't have an answer to your question, but congrats on the eggs!

Pullets often lay doubled yolked eggs when they first start laying. Our first pullet has started laying a week ago. Her second egg was double yolked. That's quite normal. Once they lay for awhile you shouldn't get many of those.

Thanks for the info guys and gals. I have now had 22 eggs from 6 chickens in 5 days. I was also going to ask when it was safe to eat the eggs? Just took them off the starter grower the day of the first eggs.

good for you ...I am also still wating for my first eggs... My girls are 22 weeks old and nothing yet... holding my breath..I have raised them from one week old...

Seven hens here and not one single egg yet... the girls are about 23 weeks or give or take, nobody knows for sure but they are big so I don't know what's going on.

Maybe if I stop hoping... it will happen...
