Today I went to put the girls out I noticed one of my reds behaving odd just like grace did with the tail down wings fluffed up away from all the others ... then i watched as she pooped yellow watery poop !!! So now it seems this is spreading ... i am a nut about clean I keep the pen clean they get clean food and water I dont get this .. I do have well water and I drink it every day dont think its that..??

I also noticed what looks like mold growing on the eggs or a moldy spotty look to two of them today and one yesterday I thought it was a fluke yesterday but now 2 today !!! gonna get back on Google and try to see what I can find and now Im going to start treating the red with Doxy and up the Tetra dose in the water ,......

ok now after a google search i think the chalk like spots are caused from my introduction of the oyster shells ..and a build up of calcium ???

Worms? Mites? I would not discount coccidiosis as well. It usually attacks younger chickens, but with all the strains now days, it's possible.

Today all the chickens seem to be ok ... all alive all seem healthy .. I did find out the other sick chicken had sour crop I induced vomiting and she is better ..I stopped antibiotic treatment for about two weeks and then saw another girl acting oddly ( tail down quiet not eating etc.) I checked her crop it was fine ... I am noticing a decline in egg laying and one little girl is laying super large eggs ..they don't fit in the carton I can't close it !!!............ I'm wondering if its the same one acting odd ???........ I restarted the antibiotics for a little while ..They all seem to be eating and Grace seems to be gaining weight again... So all is well at the Poop N Roost .... days are shorter and cooler and nights are quite chilly ... this will be their first winter and mine too with chickens ..Im both excited and nervous at the same time .. Ive learned alot over the last few weeks mostly that chickens are not stupid like some may think ..they are wildly fun to watch and seem to be quite social including with me the queen mother hen ... They all have their own personalities and are fighters when it comes to being ill.... I didnt give up on Grace because she refused to and she is the reason she is still here I just did the easy part gave her meds.... My rooster Gavin is getting so pretty ( Im sure pretty isnt a great description for a male) But he really is getting great colors still unsure of his breed ...
