Incubator: Nurture Right 360
2 Govee hygrometers: bathroom and inside incubator
Eggs set: 22
Temperature: Bathroom stayed about 72-73
Incubator bounced from 98-100. I found cold spots but the eggs were rotating so it seemed fine.
Humidity: Bathroom stayed around 56% and incubator stayed between 32-35% while incubating
Location: East coast FL. Very humid and hot.
Dry incubation. Left the front vent open about 1/3 of the way. Candled and checked air cells. Added about 2 tablespoons of water on day 19 once I started to see pips.
Lockdown procedure: candled eggs to make sure everyone was alive the night before 18th day. Day 18 removed turner and closed the AC vent in my bathroom. Opened the front vent about halfway on the incubator. I took longer hot showers and kept the door closed to keep the room more humid. Lockdown humidity stayed in the upper 40% to low 50%. Day 19 was already pips. Added about 2 tablespoons of water to the A slot on the incubator. This kept the humidity in the 50% to 55% range inside the incubator no matter what the room was doing. By 10pm day 19 the first chicks started to zip and hatch. As they started zipping I opened the front vent on the incubator all the way. I saw the temperature drop so I turned the heat up to 100.5. Day 20 I woke up and 4 more had hatched over night. Day 20 everyone else hatched throughout the day.
Losses: 2 early quitters the first week and lost last one right before hatching. Never internally pipped but absorbed the yolk.
19 healthy chicks in the brooder.
