First hatch, first chick!

I'm new here so please tell me if this belongs elsewhere, but,

my first quail hatched today!

I couldn't grab the best quality picture as I didn't want to disturb it with a light or anything, but I'll be posting pictures as more hatch

Side note--should it be okay to leave in there? It's managed to roll around almost every other egg, lol!

Aww, congratulations!
This is the right place.
You can safely move him to the brooder now if he's causing trouble. I move my chicks as soon as they're dry, about an hour after hatching.

Thank you for the response! It's not causing too much trouble, I'm just wondering if rolling around a bit will interrupt or harm the other eggs? If they're fine then I'm fine, since they're on a nice little soft surface.

No problem! Also, welcome to BYC!
Well, I would take him out either way so he can start walking in the brooder to strengthen his legs. It's best if he isn't knocking the other eggs around too much.

Oh, gotcha! I'll move him when I get back home, as I stepped out for a bit.

The other eggs have already pipped and are starting to wiggle out--should they be fine having rolled around a bit, since they're already externally pipped?

There's 3 that haven't pipped yet, but I'll give them a few more days. 8 out of 13 is still a great first hatch!
