First Hatch

we had our first chick hatch this morning. After it was out of the egg, it pooped out red. I have attached a picture as we don’t know if this is normal. It was staying attached to the chick

Definitely not normal. Looks like perhaps unabsorbed yolk. Put some paper towel in a tea cup or mug. Pick the chick up carefully with paper towel so you are not handling the yolk. Put the cup with the chick back in the bator. That is about all you can do. His prognosis with that blood loss is poor. Sorry this is happening to your chick.
The problem with opening the top of the incubator is that your humidity will drop. So take a brand new sponge, soak it in water and lay it in the bottom of the incubator when you move the chick. Good luck.
