So I placed 4 eggs in my bator 3 weeks ago today. One I tossed cause it was not fertile. One hatched Wednesday and one yesterday afternoon. Both of these hatches were the easy kind, I went in the room and there was a chick in the bator! The last egg "pipped" "cracked" this morning. That was like over 2 hours ago. How long should I wait before helping the little bugger out? I have searched the site for info but havent found the right thread. If some one can give me some instruction or point me to the right thread to read I would appreciate it!

Thanks!

Hello, it could take over 24 hours easily from pip to hatch. Some are faster than others. Keep the humidity up, do not open the bator, and give it a little more time.

Awesome! Great! It is a huge white egg that I got from a friend that has White Leghorns. I look forward to seeing the little fellow!

6 hours later, I have a small hole in the egg and it is still moving around in the bator.

I hope it hurries up.......

The chick is out!!! My 3 kids and my wife, we all saw it zip around and hatch. Pretty cool! The first time any of us had ever seen that. It is all wet and nasty looking and a bit of blood on its butt. I have to run and sing at a memorial service, that I am going to be late to thanks to this little guy, but I hope he(she) is alive when I get back!!!

I believe its better to leave them alone. Unless they are in alot of distress. I have had some die from me helping and I have had some live. Enjoy the new fuzzy butt!!
