Hi all,
I'm not looking for any advice or anything. I just wanted to post about our first hawk encounter. My 12 week old speckled sussex Perdie was the prey. She was not hurt fatally but was in shock for a long time and now she is a changed bird. Thankfully our red heeler got to the hawk in time for me to save my baby bird. Stay safe out there!

A couple of times over the years I have had a hawk kill a bird I was standing next to. Both times it happened so fast I didn't have time to react. Good dog and good luck...

we had a very close call with a hawk my chicken was screaming bloody murder a hawk was on top of her and my sister went after it with a big stick hitting the ground and yelling scared it off I was at work after that no more unsupervised free ranging but i wish i could have seen my sister going crazy on that hawk🤣

Yep, hawks will strike within feet of me or the dogs standing around. Fortunately, if the dogs are close, the hawk doesn't have a chance at it's next birthday if it doesn't let go extremely fast.
