First Hawk encounter

Hi all,
I'm not looking for any advice or anything. I just wanted to post about our first hawk encounter. My 12 week old speckled sussex Perdie was the prey. She was not hurt fatally but was in shock for a long time and now she is a changed bird. Thankfully our red heeler got to the hawk in time for me to save my baby bird. Stay safe out there!

A couple of times over the years I have had a hawk kill a bird I was standing next to. Both times it happened so fast I didn't have time to react. Good dog and good luck...

we had a very close call with a hawk my chicken was screaming bloody murder a hawk was on top of her and my sister went after it with a big stick hitting the ground and yelling scared it off I was at work after that no more unsupervised free ranging but i wish i could have seen my sister going crazy on that hawk

Yep, hawks will strike within feet of me or the dogs standing around. Fortunately, if the dogs are close, the hawk doesn't have a chance at it's next birthday if it doesn't let go extremely fast.
