I am ten days in on two eggs from my drake that got eaten. I have a visable heartbeat in one egg but not the other. Do you think it's a quitter or should I wait longer. It definitely has veins and a fetus but no heartbeat.

How often do you candle. No blood ring looks just like the other one but without the beating heart. I would hate to lose one since the drake is dead and this is all I have left of him.

I candle at 7 and 14 days (and right before lockdown if there are any "iffy" ones in there). I hope that maybe it's just the angle or something and that both hatch for you. :fl

I can't help myself. I am candeling every other day. I will check tomorrow. I was surprised by the beating heart this early. This egg has a pretty good air sack already. 28 days is so long.

I'd wait and not give up unless you see a blood ring. I had one that I was sure was dead and I was very pleasantly surprised to see I was wrong. ♡

I don't trust movement. It might just be quiet at that moment. Look for the veins, if they have retracted and the yellow turns sorta dark and uneven, it's dying or dead. No harm in waiting a few more days anyway, just to be sure...
I candle all the time on duck eggs in incubator, I mist them daily anyway. Under ducks, I hurry up and candle if the duck is off eating and bathing.

I haven't been cooling and misting. Just letting the inc ubator do it's thing. Am I wrong?
