Wow, we are getting the wild wind tonight out here at Seatac airport. I went out to check on the chickens and they are all wide awake and uptight but still up on the roost (its very dark and 10:00 at night so they should be snuggled together and sleeping). I don't know why they're so restless unless the noise outside is scaring them. Inside the coop is toasty warm from their body heat only and no draft is getting in it is very solid so there's no shaking or anything like that. This is my first time with chickens (any their first windy night in the coop) so I'm just being a mother hen I guess but still concerned for them. Does anyone else experience this? Sure hope they settle down and go to sleep even though its still windy but it is easing up.

It's the noise outside thats upsetting them, we just had 60 mile gusts here and have had a lot of previous gales and even though there safe it always unsettles my chickens

Thanks. That was a wild night. I wonder if they slept at all last night I went out at midnight just before I went to bed and they were still awake. They all seem fine this morning though.
