Oh my goodness...DH and I were DYING....
They got a little dish of parakeet grit, and I bought the little container of mealworms that are already dead (cause I didnt want to worry about them biting my chicks!) and set the dish in with my babies.
They were a little scared at first, but my litte bantam Napolean (he has little man syndome, course it could be a Napoleana) was the first to jump right in the dish.
Once he(she?) found the first meal worm, the chase was on!
I also bought 6 crickets, and let me tell you... Once the first chick learned they were food... all 6 were eaten within minutes!
I dropped a few meal worms in the shavings this morning when I was waking the little ones up today to give them something to do. I just love watching them scatch around...I'm such a proud little chicken mom!!
Oh, I learned what a crop was finally...
I was thinking my chick had a tumor... but every morning it was always smaller or not there and then bigger again during the day... Went google-ing and found out about the crop... whew!
