Hello everyone!

I am new to this group and would like to introduce myself. I was raised on a very small farm where I had to take care of the chickens and their eggs. A job I very much hated! Now that I am adult, I kept bugging my husband that I wanted a few chickens. This mother's day he surprised me by building a coop. We were given 9 free baby chicks from a local grade school class project and they are currently 11 days old and growing quickly. I am enjoying every minute of taking care of them. I have been reading through several posts and all of your help has been wonderful. Thanks for being a caring and knowledgeable community!

Thanks for the reminder! One of the little boys from the classroom told me that one of the chicks names was Carlos (I thought to myself) I hope it's a Carla otherwise we are having dinner!
