First night out in the coop for the babies

And I am NERVOUS! It's got more locks than Fort Knox, but I'm still unsure about the heat lamp being enough or too much. Or that some crafty fox has already broken into Fort Knox and our security means nothing to him.

sigh. I wish they could just live in my bath tub.

What kind of behavior do the birds exhibit if they're too cold? (other than crowding under the light). Mine are sleeping quite close to it, but not right under it. They are a month old.

If they are lying close to it, but not under it sounds like they are just fine. Cold chicks may also peep very loud.
I'm sure they'll do just fine.

I hear you! I took my babies to the run yesterday and they just looked so small!! I ended up taking them back to the brooder till they are a little older. They will probably be fine-you on the other hand will probably be up before the crack of dawn to check on them! Best of luck to you!
