I know I should have joined a long time ago, since this has always been my go-to site. I would like to thank so many people from this site! Yall have unknowingly saved my birds multiple times! Instead of hopping on and asking questions about my birds, I was able to find much of the info we needed by searching the forums. 9 out of 10 times, someone had the same questions that I did. It sounds funny now, but I was able to compare pics of my birds including, their poop, to accurately diagnose and treat them. I have learned a whole lot in the last year thanks to you guys and gals. I am sorry if I am rambling, but today I have two 4 wk old turks running and chirping like I would if I just won the lotto! They each became sick, and thanks to the research I did before I got them, I had the recommended medicine already on hand (Corid, SafeGuard, Fish-Zole, etc..). THANK YOU!

Hi Ricky-Bobby, welcome to BYC!

Nice you came out of lurker-hood and decided to join us. This really is a remarkable place for help (and fun & friendship too). Make yourself at home and if you need anything or just want to share, jump right in.

Thank you for serving. Hope you are enjoying your flock.

Good to have you here!

Very nice to meet you Ricky-Bobby. Thank you sincerely for your years in service to our country. I have never seen turkey poults frolicking but, I'm sure I would enjoy it.
You may want to post photos on the Turkey thread - to see if the folks there can ID the variety for you.

Thanks NorthFLChick! We love our flock. I will have to share pics soon. I have always been a dog person, but that has changed. We love our girls. They help me calm down after work and they help teach my kids responsibility. My 6 yo daughter is the chicken whisperer. We bought a couple chickens from an animal auction that are very nervous and jittery. She can hold them with no problem but no one else can!

Thanks Diva. I will do that. Right now we think they are part of the "Spoiled-Turkey" breed.

I hear that is the most common breed of turks on BYC!!!

Having chickens around can be very calming. I have one in particular that loves to sit on my lap and when that happens, tension seems to melt. And watching chicken tv is the best show around, they are very entertaining!

Love hearing your DD is a "chicken whisperer"! Kids can learn so much caring for an animal...responsibility, caring, kindness...all good life lessons.

I agree! They have been a great tool for teaching. So often my wife and I catch ourselves almost spoiling our kids. We would love to give them all of the things we never had, but we know that will not help them in the long run. My oldest is 13 and my youngest is 4. Each one goes hunting with me and each one has responsibilities around the house. They are learning that it is time to play when everything is done.
