Its late day 19 in my incubator (will turn over to day 20 late afternoon today) and I woke up to find two pips, one has quite the hole already and is cheeping away. Did I run the bator a little too hot? Or is it totally fine for them to be pipping on day 19?

I have hatched 5 clutches and in every one have had an early pip. Just let the process take its course and everything should be fine. And, yes. If your bator was at a slightly higher temp, your batch will tend to hatch early. Just make sure you run your humidity high throughout lockdown. Good luck!!

You'll be finishing up the hatch day 21 instead of day 22. All my hatches have one start a good 12 hours before others and last one out a good 12 hours after the others. Most will pop like corn mid day 21 for me. Think your main hatch will be day 20 which if bantam or pullet eggs is almost spot on but if large eggs then yeah, probably try 0.5 F lower next hatch. Keep all same equipment but make a note to run half a degree lower.

Congrats on a successful incubation.

It’s fine. I’ve actually had hatches on day 19 and they did fine, it being an indication of too much heat in general during incubation being the case for me, too.

Thanks everyone! There are 26 eggs in the bator so I should start seeing more popping soon I am sure! Yayyy babies!

Early PIP is fine. My dad and I always said 21 days is the average for hatching eggs.
day 20-22 are the days we watch them closely, and get most hatchings. Day 19 doesn't surprise me.

*** This is not official, but I have heard on here that if your incubator is a little warm, it can cause them to hatch early. So double check your temp, just in case for your next hatching. Maybe get another thermometer and verify your current one is calibrated right.

Did they all hatch on day 21? I have 21 eggs in incubator day 19 today and 1 has started pipping hope it doesn't hatch over night as it can only stay in incubator for 48 hours and if some others haven't hatched they will get shrink wrapped if I open the incubator..😩
