Well my runner eggs are due on Friday and I already had one pip today! I'm not sure why this guy is so much more eager to hatch than the others...but I quickly put the brooder together and now I'm ready in case the others decide to come early as well!

I'm so excited!!

I only have 7 out of 13 surviving, but when I candled then a few days ago they all had little heartbeats so I'm crossing my fingers for a good hatch!!

And I have a question...I got two extremely tiny eggs (about the size of call eggs) and they have been developing the same as the larger ones. Does anyone think they'll make it? Will they actually end up smaller than the others if they hatch?

I'm excited to find out!

Yeah, small eggs hatch out small ducklings/chicks.

But really large eggs make it harder for the babies to hatch out because they can't reach the air cell and subsequently drown.

I have two little ducklings now!!! YAY! I promise to post pictures later today! I need to wait for them to dry out some. The first little guy came at 3:00 this morning and woke me up with its peeping.

I saw movement in one of the smaller eggs so I think that one may pip soon. Tiny runners would be awesome.

I think the timing of the eggs might have gotten off because I had 4 under my broody duck (then I moved them to the incubator at day 19) and 3 in the incubator the entire time. 2 from the broody duck have hatched so far. The actual due date is Friday so I'm hopeful for them all.
