Hello to all,
I've been reading alot on this site and decided it was time to "step-up" and join.
My grandfather raised chickens (loved as a 4 year old "helping" him collect the eggs) and my family raised chickens for meat as I was growing up. I was better help at that point, but didn't want to get attached to any of them since I knew I would have to help with the processing.
Well now I'm a grown up (born in the '50s - that makes me sound old, but we'll just stick with grown-up) and have decided along with the husband & dogs & horses there is room in my life for chickens and I'll get to name these ladies!!!
Have the coop almost done (told you I'd been lurking around and learned alot) and have 15 Araucana (Easter Eggers) peeps on order. The dogs have donated their large cage/kennel for modification (altho they didn't really understand why it needs a red light, cardboard walls, etc) and now we wait and spend time on this great site!!
