My chickens seen there first snow this morning. I no now why they call it being chicken. They jumped out of the coop and no ground just 10" of snow. I did not no they could make a u-turn in midair. Cool There were about 2 places that had no snow about 2' by 3' the ones that got to it stayed there all day. No matter what I did to get them in they would not leave dry ground.

Cute!

lol...I am in northern ontario it has snow a teensy bit here and there, but still waiting for the real snow to come. I wonder how mine will fare, lol....where are you located?

hopefully in a few days they will venture out to explore, lol....I would hate to see my chickens stay indoors all winter long. don't think they will and I have a feeling mine will react the same way as yours. It would have been funny to have a camcorder on hand to catch their initial reaction, lol....

This is will be my girls' first winter, I'm curious how they will react. This morning it was snowing lightly, not enough to stick, but they didn't seem to even notice. I'm sure they will, Montana gets snow!!

I am in a little town called mankato in Minnesota, I was smileing all day thinking about the whole thing. By the way I just have 11 hens and two roosters now. Been getting 11 eggs every morning for the last month. First time ever doing chickens. Just moved out to a place with 15 arcers

We had flakes this morning and at first, the chickens turned around and ran straight back to the coop. Once a few brave ones ventured out, the rest followed suit. They have been out in the rain before so I didn't think snow would be such a big deal. Apparently, I was wrong.

that is awesome...I myself purchased a place with 48 acres but its mostly wooded. I can't wait for the first real snowfall. I got my chickens this june, so this will be my first winter too. I got 21 RIR's and while sometimes I get 21 eggs I more often then never average 20 per day. not complaining cause that is a lot of eggs LOL.

I could say I have been to Minnesota, but not really just drove through it, many years ago, I really liked all the scenery LOL...and its been so long I couldn't even tell you the cute INN I stayed at over night. but all I can remember is thinking how green everything was LOL.

On Saturday there was just a dusting of the first snow in my covered run but no birds outside. I went in the coop to find all of them standing by the open doorway looking outside & talking amongst themselves. They stayed inside the entire day right by the door.

I would bet they were daring each other. YOU GO OUT, NO YOU GO OUT FIRST, NO YOU. LOL Mine were out today so it just takes a while. They still hate the snow
