After having our chicks grow out of the brooder, we placed them in the chicken coop and used a droppings board that was cleaned regularly and deep litter throughout the rest of the coop. After 7 months, we are doing our first major clean and disinfecting. I have a couple of questions:

1.) Is it okay to use a mild bleach solution to disinfect, allowing for plenty of air dry to have bleach dissipate?

2.) Old shavings - okay to use in run for damp spots? It will probably decompose over the summer, right?

With this warm weather we've been blessed with (83F degrees!) and the daughter home from college and wanting to work outside, it seems like the perfect weekend for this. Thanks for any help you can give:)

Yes and yes! At least in my opinion.
