First time backyard chicken mama

I grew up raising chickens on a large farm. Every year we had at least 200 chickens that my sister and I were responsible for but they were not layers. I am now, in my now middle age, happy to venture into the world of backyard girlies and their escapades. I am trying to learn everything I can. I live in Western NY and have a happy family of a dog, a leopard gecko, two fancy rats, and two guinea pigs. Oh yeah, and my daughter! She is in love with the chickens. We have a brooder with three jersey giants and three Brahma chicks(hopefully all pullets).
