Our family is new to the backyard chicken world! Last Wednesday 7 little chirping balls of fluff arrived at our local post office. 1 Dominique, 1 Plymouth barred rock, 1 partridge Plymouth rock, 1 Easter egged bantam, 1 light brahma, 1 buckeye and 1 golden star. Any hints or tips are greatly appreciated!

! Super to have you in our flock! A great place to start for the beginning chicken keeper is the Learning Center link below. The various tabs within this link will give you the knowledge you need to be a responsible poultry keeper and raise a happy and healthy flock! Good luck to you and enjoy your chicken odyssey!

Hi,
I am also from the UP. I started with chickens last summer. I find them very addictive! We now have 16; 2buffs, 2RIR, 2 Americauna, 5 leghorns, 1coocoo moran, 2 Ida Brown and two black sex link. I am thinking of getting a bantam rooster.
Hope you enjoy you chickens.

Greetings from the Lower Peninsula! Haha, a troll from under the bridge! I'm new to this too, with 6 chicks, (2 Ameraucanas, 2 Orpingtons, and 2 Australorps.) so I can't give you any tips, but I wish you the best with your new feathered friends! :D

I'm a yooper, too! I'm just getting started on this chicken path. We don't even have our chicks yet- but soon!

I've been poking around trying to find a source for meat processing if/when we get to that. Anyone know of a place in the UP that will process our chickens?
