My first hen has gone broody on 7 eggs, a couple hers, a couple our second hens, and i was wondering if there where any tips or tricks to help her out? She gets up and eats and poops fine, but i want this to be as succefcssful as possible!

If you haven't already i would separate her from the other hens/flock as once they hatch she will be very protective of her young and i had a broody serama that nearly killed a pekin cockerel because he walked passed her chicks and she didn't like it, i currently have a broody in a large empty cardboard box with dust free pine shaving in a quiet location in my shed so she doesn't get stressed out and possibly kill the chicks as they hatch (as it does happen). i take her out the box once a day and put her on the grass for 10 -15 minutes to let her have a scratch and forage around and then i will return her to her box. I have 2 small containers right in front of her when i put her back in and i put clean water in one and growers pellets in the other for higher protein (in the last few days of the brood up to hatch date i will put chick crumb in so the mother starts eating that and gets use to that to show the chicks), i will also give her little treats like meal worms to keep her strength up as Brodie's do tend to loose condition easily. If she is in direct contact with the earth i would also DE her twice through out her brood to keep lice/mites or any other creepy crawlies of, remove her broody poo as soon as you see it as it will attract flies which could potentially lay eggs in her vent (another good place to check once a week just in case), but as long as they have access to fresh clean water and food she should be fine and fingers crossed for you that you get chicks in 21 days :)

Awesome thank you, i havent seperated her because i will be removing the chicks once they have hatched and put them in my brooder, plus this particular hen is terrified of humans for some reason, so i fugred it would be easier for her to leave her. I will be dusting often and cleaning the poo however, and seriously, thanks for your input!
