Bought 10 chicks this spring. they are now 13 weeks old and doing great, five yellow Orpingtons and five RI Reds. one the reds is a rooster. My wife is usually the animal lover but I seem to have taken over the chickens, in fact I have been having a ton of fun raising these chicks and look forward to some egg laying.
I didn't think it was possible to spoil a chicken
I have been letting them run for a couple hours every evening, they follow me around digging and scratching ( chicken herder?).
It has been interesting to see how the pecking order has played out. The largest and most aggressive hen is the boss, the rooster is second in command and they usually buddy around together.
I was looking for chickens, but now have ten pets. love my chickens
