So this will be my first flock. I have 6 wyandotte hens that are about 4 months old. They are really cool. I am a former Marine grunt with disabilities. I have been focusing on things that are pure and simple. Ways to reconnect with earth and mother nature. In a sense, "trading my rifle for a plow." I also garden, compost, sprout, even breed worms(chicken food) :)

I have refernced this site before, but decided to join in an attempt to connect with other people who share my passion. If someone actually is reading this, thanks and God bless!

Welcome to BYC! Glad you decided to join our flock. A lot of us were lurkers before joining. Thanks for your service to our country. My brother-in-law is a retired and disabled Marine officer. Please feel free to ask any questions you may have. We are here to help in any way we can. Good luck with your Wyandottes.

Wow! welcome Marine, and Happy Birthday. I am also happy to see another guy on here. I'm also a retired, temporarily disabled sailor, so welcome to the club. This is a fantastic place to learn about chooks so I hope you find it to be as pleasant an experience as I have. My current disability, not being able to walk due to diabetic foot problems, has kept me away from my girls and boys since late August and I've only been able to live with them vicariously via my wife and nephew, who have been doing all the work. Do you know how hard it is to watch someone else do your work and not do it the way you would have? Sometimes ya just have to let things go. Don't hesitate to ask questions here and learn from YouTube videos, as well. Thanks for joining us, Bob
