My girls and boy are 9 weeks old on Tuesday. I am just about out of their medicated starter feed. When I go to the feed store, should I be switching to grower feed? What is the next step for food at this age? Thanks so much

I was told they only need the medicated feed until they are 8 weeks old hope that helps

Yes, it's the grower feed that you go to.. something with about 16% protein. We went to grower feed at about 6 weeks, so it'll be just fine to switch them now. (or course, it depends on what types of chicks you have - laying or broiler) Broilers need to stay on the higher protien so they can grow faster. Don't go to layer food until they start to lay or are just about ready - too much calcium might hurt them.

Oh this is good info! Thanks for posting the question. Mine are only 3 weeks old so I will continue to feed them the starter feed. Maybe switch them to the Grower feed once this starter feed bag is gone, I should probably have enough for at least 2 or 3 more weeks.
