I am a first timer with Ducks, I have never risen any other poultry although I am very interested in doing so when I move to Idaho from my current state.

(3) What breeds do you have?
One brown (unknown breed) duck and one Pekin. If you can offer any help identifying my brown duck please let me know here, Thank you!
(4) How did you find out about BackYardChickens.com?
I did a lot of online research and BackYardChickens was one of my main sources of help!
(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
I am currently getting into new hobbies. Some of my new hobbies besides duck keeping are: farming (I am growing Pumpkins, Cilantro, and Corn in 110 Californian weather), video games, and fish keeping.
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
I recently turned 18 almost exactly 4 weeks ago. I also recently graduated high school. I currently work at my local Taco Bell. It is not the greatest job, in fact it is probably the worst lol. I need the job anyway so I just suck it up. I am looking for another job but haven't had luck. My family and I are planning on moving to Idaho in two years and I will not have this problem there. I am planning on taking my ducks with me and using the money I've saved from Taco Bell to put a down payment on a house with a good chunk of land. Farming is a new hobby I found and I have had lots of fun pursuing it. I don't know if I would start my own farm in Idaho but it is an option for me. These ducks of mine are just little pieces of Idaho to keep me going through work until I get to Idaho. I am excited to join this community and greatly appreciate the work the site admins and community have put into creating this! Thank you very much!

Hi and welcome to byc :frow @Ravynscroft might be able to id the brown duck. May be a rouen--but don't see characteristic markings. Google Polyface farms and joel salatin. There's a world of info there for you. And will give you a good start when you get to your new area. Hoard every dollar til you get there, you'll want to be and stay debt free.

Thank you so much for the warm welcome and information everyone! I am very excited to be a part of this community and meet all the people who make it so great!
