first time egg problems

My Serama layed her 1st egg 2 days ago and I found it on ground broken.I didn't think she was old enough to lay(was told she was 5 mo) but I put in a nest box right away.Today I saw her lay again when I checked just after dusk on my 4 chickens that were huddled together in corner as always and my Silkie ( 4 mo) pullet grabbed it up. So 2 problems-how to get her to use nest box and how to stop others from eating them?

Put fake eggs in your nestboxes, eventually your hens should start using them. Quite often any eggs laid on the ground will be eaten, so getting them up to the nests will help. Ceramic eggs will help as they can't peck them open so the help to teach hens they can't break them so they often stop.
