First time feathered father

I just hatched six of my first chickens yesterday. I am a restaurant manager, married for 15 years to my tough and beautiful wife Desiree and promised her that when we moved to the country years ago we would raise chickens. I have two kids Hailey and Aaron who are 12 and 11 years old. I've learned a lot about chickens from my dad who has raised them for the past ten years. My first ever batch of chickens I ended up with six that all have a blue splash Nathan father and are mixed 50/50 with RIR, ISA, EE, and a BCM hen.I hope to become a breeder in the future for BCM, RIR and Brahmas, but am starting out with random chicks to learn to raise them. I hope to learn a lot by utilizing this forum for information and can't wait to converse with other chicken owners like myself.

Here's an idea for your chicks water. It keeps it clean and the chicks pick up on it right away. At least my batches is chicks have.

I looked at my local tractor supply and I couldn't find those type of waterers, I'm going to check my local wheat and see if they might have them.

I made it from a plastic bottle I found at Aldi and some vertical nipples I picked up at TSC.

Good morning and welcome to the BYC flock!!! Looks like you are doing great and on your way to chicken raising. I have not gotten brave enough to incubate any yet, but might consider next year to try.
