First time hatcher...one chick is out and pecking the other shells!

We just started hatching about 3 p.m. today and there are cracks in four out of 11 left to hatch. Number 12 hatched about 4 p.m. and is pecking at one of the other eggs and has a piece of the shell off but the memberane is not perforated. Is this ok? what should I do?

Leave it alone. Once one gets out the others will start popping right along with it. It's bored and bored babies peck at stuff. The egg had already pipped or else the baby would not have gotten the piece of shell off.

It's probably pecking at one of the eggs that is peeping, they naturally want to be with other chicks so she may just want to get closer. It is normal behavior and should not cause a problem,
