I have 2 broody hens so I left a few eggs under each one. Well this morning when checking I found one of them almost hatched out. I thought it was dead and took it out from under the hen and cleaned a few shells off and it started to move. So I took a little more off and put it back under the hen. Not sure what I should do next? Just leave it for now or try and help it?

Yes she never moved but growled at me a bi like she always does when I check. I was checking for more eggs as some of the other hens like to sneak in an lay an egg in there when the 2 brooders are up getting some water and food. I had the eggs I left marked so I don't pull the wrong ones.

The chick was mostly hatched I think. It had the white inner stuff from the shell on it and I didn't think it could get out so I peeled some of that off.

Ok so I’ve had a similar experience when my coochins eggs were hatching and I took the first one because I thought the same thing but I kept it away from the mother and finished helping it it would go out there every thirty minutes and peel a little more off . But I think it depends on if there is anymore progress leave the egg if there’s not help it the rest of the way

OK Thanks. It was only out from the hen for maybe 2 minutes.

I have 1 fuzzy chick and 1 not so fuzzy that felt cool. I put it back under the hen. The 2nd broody hen was in the box I think trying to steal the chick. I have eggs under her too.

They will do that but I’ve had hens be broody and they both hatched chicks but the chicks only cares for one
