I did this backwards. I asked a question before introducing myself. I have raised chickens for 12 years. This is a first time for Turkeys. I have 31 Chicks at the moment and 20 adults. Also have 9 Guineas. I used to think a few chickens have been a pain. Well the Turkeys win.I had to clip all the females wings because they would fly out all the time and chase the chickens. This Clipping really helped. Now it is the Toms fighting.

So I'l welcome you here too. Spend more time with your turkeys they'll come around... They are kind of like big feathered dogs. They are affectionate, very very curious and have a tremendous personality. They are also trainable. I also raise my birds together inside an electric fence and they go to shelter at night, all except the toms who flat out refuse. They sleep on a covered perch.

Gee no wonder Tom turkeys have tougher meat. My mom only bought hen turkeys for Xmas & Thanksgiving - excellent!
