first time incubating shipped eggs... what is the procedure for getting them ready for the incubator... heard somewhere that you needed to let them sit before putting them in the incubator... Using a LG with fan and auto egg turner.. thanks for any advice.

I think youre supposed to let them sit small side down in a warm room, so they slowly get acclimated to the warmth. I guess you dont want to shock them by putting them in a 100 deg. incubator after theyve been outside. Theres a sticky about it on this topic. good luck!

Im not really sure I've never incubated eggs. I do have advice though, to get people to check your thread you should put a more detailed title. Many people probably wont click on "a little advice" but people will click on "Advice with Incubation Procedure". Just a little helpful hint, good luck with finding your information!

I let them sit a minimum of 12 hours, longer if more eggs are coming for the incubation. I have some sitting next to the incubator now. Expecting more to arrive tomorrow! Got 48 in the incubator and doing a staggered hatch. If I ever do this again, I will buy a hatcher to deal with the staggered hatches!

Let them set about 12 hours with the small end down that will be plenty of time for them to ajust to room temp. it also lets the egg settle from being bounced around in the mail.some people let them set 8 hours some 6. make sure the small end is down the air sac is in the large end you dont wont to break it loose.I hope this helps.

I let mine "rest" at least overnight, sometimes two days. (Because I can be lazy at times...) This is to allow the air cell to move to the "top" of the egg, which is positioned pointy end down.

Just set them in an egg carton, small, pointy end down, and let them sit for 12 hours or so. Don't turn them! You are trying to get the air sack to settle at the top of the egg. Good luck with your hatch!

Cool Cartersmith, let us knwo how many you get!

I think the idea about letting them rest for 12ish hours is to let the air sac settle into its proper location in the big end of he egg after being jostled from shipping.
