Hi, I am ten days into incubation with my first lot of eggs and when i look at them with my home made candler all i can see is yolk, the air cell is there, the legs are orpingtons so quite pale in colour, should i be able to see more at this stage

You should be seeing veins running through them.Sounds like they are "clears". (not fertile).

Yeah, it should be like looking at the veins popping out onto the whites of your eyeball when you haven't had enough sleep. So if all you see is the shadow of a yolk and it's day 10 and your temp has been between 99.5-101 on average, you should have seen the veins starting by now and they must not be fertile.
