First time layer seems freaked out

Hi,
My 6-month-ish old blue laced red Wyandotte has not yet laid an egg to my knowledge, and I believe she’s trying to today. She seems nervous and a little freaked out, making strange noises and crashing around in the coop possibly trying to get comfortable. She calmed down and sat for a while like a laying hen, but then left and started up again with her rapid clucks. Now she’s back sitting again. I just want to make sure this is normal for a first time layer and that she’s not in trouble. Any thoughts on this? Thanks in advance!

That is normal behavior for many hens, even experienced layers at times. Rest assured, she will soon lay you a beautiful egg! Best wishes and be well!
